How Belleville adopted this calendar
On Friday, October 4, 2019, members of the Islamic Society of Belleville expressed their preference on the selection of the Islamic (Hijri) calendar. The majority of brothers and sisters expressed willingness to adapt the scientific calendar for important Islamic dates.
The archived announcement noted that the astronomical method of calculating lunar cycles and Hijri dates had been adopted by the Fiqh Council of North America and major mosques and Islamic centres in North America. The community poll informed Belleville’s adoption of this calculated calendar for important dates.
